The Department of Political Science and International Relations is based in Corinth, and is a vibrant university department offering undergraduate and postgraduates programs of study. The Department combines academic research with projects that provide tangible results for society at large. The Department’s staff is engaged in diverse research activity, which is combined with extensive experience in project management. The Department of Political Science and International Relations has implemented a series of research programs, one of which, the THALES program, pertains to the evaluation of Greek nongovernmental organisations. Additionally, the Department also ran a series of educational seminars entitled “Design, Implementation and Evaluation of Programs” for Greek NGO staff all across the country, with more than 180 beneficiary organisations.

The grant regards the organization of a capacity building educational seminar in Thessaloniki for the staff of care homes. The seminar focuses on matters of day-to-day management and operation, as well as on issues relating to gerontology. It is addressed to the management and head nurses from 13 care homes who in turn offer care to approximately 700 elders. Overall, 24 members of staff from care homes from Thessaloniki and northern Greece participated.
