The grant regards the continuation of a program supporting elderly persons living in street conditions in the Piraeus region and the production of a documentary on the homeless. The program, funded by TIMA in 2016, 2018, and 2020 involves the psychosocial support of senior elderly citizens living in street conditions, as well as advisory on legal and accounting issues to help them into permanent housing and also to receive social welfare benefits where possible. Additionally, a new program element entitled “Mobile Joy” will allow the homeless elderly to be active teachers in skills they possess to other elderly in care-homes or care centers. The organization will also focus on training relevant municipalities and creating a strong network with the relevant authorities in order to ensure that future homeless cases will not simply be turned away but processed, with the support of Emfasis, when necessary.
