“Andama” Program

"Sinthesis" Media Company was founded in 2001 with the aim to promote culture by organizing events, social actions and educational programs in Greece and across its border.

During its first years of operation, “Sinthesis” was mainly active in producing performances in well-known venues around Athens and in its own space, namely “Vryssaki”. Since 2009, it transformed “Vryssaki” into an artistic interdisciplinary space where young artists, have the opportunity to show their work. “Sinthesis” also organizes the Athens Fringe Network; a network whose main goal is to consistently connect different constituents of the city. One of the main programs operating under the Network involves the provision of free multi-themed classes to people in need. During 2012, 60 different classes were offered to 500 students by 50 volunteer teachers.

The grant regards the implementation of a recreational program for the elderly in nonprofit care homes titled “Andama”. Andama in Greek means to come together indicating an experience where the young artists interact with the elders. The program involves an interactive and participatory experience for the elders. It aims not only at entertaining but also at providing mental strengthening to its participants. The program has been designed with the collaboration of a best practice abroad as well as with local gerontologists.
