In 2014, through a TIMA grant, it implemented the first recreational program that involved visits to 12 care homes. This was followed up in 2015,  by offering weekly recreational visits to a care home. With the experience gained, in 2017, Seveneleven began implementing Thallo, a holistic recreational program for care homes. It is also training volunteers for the program’s sustainability, as well as other teams for the creation of similar programs throughout Greece.

Performance

The grant regards the support of a theatrical performance on issues of ageing. The performance will be presented 10 times in 5 weeks and will commence on Alzheimer’s day – September 21st. During the implementation of TIMA’s 2015 grant, the Seveneleven team wrote and recorded stories that the elderly residents, many of whom had dementia, were recounting. This performance is a mosaic of these stories presented in a cohesive, humoristic and optimistic manner. The performance’s goal is not only to entertain but also to present the positive aspects of ageing in an effort to alleviate the stigma surrounding third age and to raise awareness regarding dementia.
