CPEC is a leading international research center carrying out world-class research in the areas of long-term care (social care), mental health, developmental disabilities, and other health issues – across the life course – to inform and influence policy, practice, and theory globally.

Research & Toolkit for the Help at Home Program in Isolated Areas

The grant regards a program that will research the Help at Home service in isolated areas of Greece and will examine the gaps in the services offered to older people. The objectives of the project are focused on mapping the current provision of long-term care services for older people and will focus on three municipalities: Pogoni, Paranesti and Lake Plastira. This will include research on the provision of information, support for family carers, home care, day care and residential care services; it will go on to ascertain the views of local stakeholders, including service providers, about the quality, effectiveness and sustainability of the services currently available and identify gaps in service provision; it will also ascertain the views of older people and their families resident in the areas about access to services, quality of services and gaps in service provision. The program will also develop suggestions for a new model of integrated services for older people in order to increase the accessibility and quality of services and develop a tool that will include a set of recommendations for potential service development. The results and recommendations will be included in the National Strategy on Ageing with advice on how the findings of this study could inform the development of integrated long-term care services in other remote areas of Greece.
