Psychosocial Support to Elderly Flood Victims of Thessaly
“Mobile Life – Emfasis travelling van – Thessaly”
The grant regards the provision of psychosocial support to vulnerable elderly flood victims in the region of Thessaly. Through a previous 2023 TIMA grant, Emfasis created a mobile unit offering psychosocial, legal, and material support to vulnerable elderly flood victims. The TIMA 2024 grant is shifting its focus from crisis response to community building in an effort to make the program sustainable. TIMA’s grant will be part of a greater project to which other donors have contributed that will involve community-building in the area of Rizovouni entailing the refurbishment of an old elementary school into a cultural and health center where the community can meet and rebuild. With TIMA’s support, a van will travel across the region to support individuals who are less mobile offering psychosocial and medical services as well as food provision. An estimated 690 individuals will benefit directly with another 2,000 individuals in the region benefiting indirectly.
