Psychosocial Support

Ithaca’s primary goal is to promote the integration of homeless people and vulnerable groups. To achieve this, it has developed activities around 3 main pillars: 1. Direct Relief. 2. Employment and 3. Awareness raising. Through the operation of the Mobile Laundry Unit, which operates daily in Attica, the organization has served more than 11,200 beneficiaries, who have made more than 46,000 visits and received more than 260 tons of clean, washed clothes.  In March 2021, Ithaca’s Social Service on the Street was piloted parallel to the Mobile Unit’s activities. TIMA supported its growth into a program supporting 150 individuals with over 700 applications resolving psychosocial, tax and medical issues.

Psychosocial Support Program

The grant regards an extension of Ithaca’s Social Service on the Streets initiative, tailored to support homeless individuals over 60 years of age in the Attica region. The program aims to comprehensively address the unique challenges faced by homeless elderly individuals, improving their quality of life and promoting long-term stability. The proposed program offers: a) Psychosocial Support: addressing mental health challenges such as depression and anxiety, exacerbated by isolation and lack of support networks; b) Access to Basic Services: ensuring access to essential health services, including preventive care, medical treatment, and medication management; c) Economic Stability: providing consistent financial support to meet basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare; d) Empowerment and Skill Development: enhancing resilience and overall well-being by offering opportunities for skill development and social participation. A total of 100 beneficiaries including those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness who face challenges related to ageing, unemployment, lack of social support, and social exclusion will benefit from this grant.
