Program for Flood-Stricken Individuals in Thessaly
The grant is for a program to support households in the flood-hit villages of South Pilion in Thessaly. Doctors of the World will set up a mobile unit providing medical support for residents affected by the floods and offer health promotion and awareness at the community level as well as the provision of immediate material support for those in need.
The program will support an estimated 250 households and 500 direct beneficiaries. The beneficiaries will include general flood-affected populations, groups with specific needs such as the elderly and disabled as well as complex and vulnerable cases such as chronic patients with co-morbidities. The provision of material aid and small-scale repairs will aim to cover basic hydraulic, electrical and structural fixes in sanitary facilities for at least 20 socially vulnerable households.
