The organization has two main areas of activity: a) the provision of physiotherapy and nursing services for adults and b) the implementation of environmental and educational activities for children. Its objectives are twofold: the organization aims to prevent and alleviate chronic diseases in the elderly and to connect young people with the natural environment. In this context it organizes many activities, mainly in forests and wetlands. Its services are aimed at both urban and rural populations in the areas of Volos and Larissa.
Physical Therapy Program for the Fall Prevention
The grant regards a 4-month therapeutic exercise program aimed at the prevention of falls for elderly people in Volos. The program is designed to reduce the likelihood of falls and to reduce the extent of injury in the event of a fall in the elderly. The program has been specifically designed for seniors, with the goal of improving the strength, flexibility and balance of the participants, in accordance with the published clinical guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO, 2022). Over fifty persons aged 65-93 years of age are currently participating in the program.
