It is the only nonprofit care home in Naousa and one of two in the prefecture of Imathia. In 2017, approximately 32 elders were residing at the Care Home. The Home offers additional services to its residents, such as physical therapy, physical education and occupational therapy sessions. Recreational activities are offered by volunteers several times per week.

Intergenerational Program

The grant regards an interactive, intergenerational program consisting of workshops through which 10 students from the occupational therapy department from the Veroia Community College (ΙΕΚ ΒΕΡΟΙΑΣ) will participate along with 12 seniors from the Care Home. The workshops will consist of interactive games for the improvement of perception, memory and cognitive strengthening tests, videos, music, dance, and creative activities that enhance team-building. The basic goals of the program will be to reduce the feelings of incapability, anxiety and depression in seniors which often arise from social isolation. By improving their cognitive ability and mobility the aspiration is to ultimately enhance elders’ self-esteem. The program will also result in cultivating respect and care for elders while enhancing socialization between the two age groups. The innovative element of this program is that it combines two different generations that consist of young and old persons with the aim of each receiving and giving the most positive elements of both age groups.

This grant is implemented through the Points of Support program II.
