The Municipality of Rhodes operates one Open Protection Center for the Elderly in the town of Rhodes and two subsidiaries, one in the town of Rhodes and one in the town of Ialisos. The services provided include creative pursuits, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. The Open Protection Center of Rhodes has been in operation since 1985. It currently has 800 elderly members, 70 of which visit on a daily basis. On a weekly basis volunteers teach various activities to the members. There are 23 classes offered, including theater, dance, fitness and iconography.
The Municipality of Rhodes has also been operating, a Day Care Center for the Elderly since 2003. The Day Care Center targets elders who are not autonomous either due to mobility difficulties or due to a disease. The services offered to the 15 members include a small lunch, nursing and recreational activities.

The grant regards the purchase of medical equipment for the Open Protection Center and electrical appliances for the Day Care Center.
