Desmos communicates with organizations in Athens and Thessaloniki and records their immediate and long term needs. At the same time, it tries to meet these needs by reaching out to companies. Desmos also raises social awareness on the importance of giving and reducing waste. Its ultimate goal is to create networks of solidarity and cultivate social and humanitarian responsibility. Since its establishment, Desmos has offered significant support to 563 organizations in Greece, reaching more than 300,000 beneficiaries total. In 2013, Desmos commenced the “Desmos Gives Warmth” program aimed at supplying heating fuel to non-profit organizations throughout Greece. Over its four years of operation, the program has offered 415,000 liters of heating fuel to 260 organizations, warming 13,825 beneficiaries.

The grant regards the provision of heating to care homes throughout Greece under the “Desmos Gives Warmth” program. The grant will cover the provision of heating to approximately 30 care homes as well as the operational costs related to its implementation. The beneficiaries are the approximately 1,800 elderly residents of the care homes. Heating costs are usually one of the largest and primary expenses of care homes, depending on their location. The funding of the “Desmos Gives Warmth” program will permit the simultaneous support of a group of care homes around Greece.
