It has also participated in a number of European programs related to long-term care and the elderly. Lastly, the organization is also active in government lobbying for issues related to the elderly, in participation and organization of seminars and conferences, and in research and publications.
Creation of a Platform for Caregiver Training
The grant regards the creation of careplatform.gr. This platform aims to educate and train informal caregivers of older persons. The platform will contain a plethora of online training videos and will aim to be easy to use, user-friendly, and freely accessible to all. An indexing/categorization system will also be created—by geographical area, by subject (e.g. by health issue), language, hours needed to train the user, type of material, and so on. The educational material that will be inserted into the platform will include videos and visual material in addition to written documents. Apart from bringing together material that is fragmented and not currently available on a single platform, audiovisual educational material will also be emphasized in order to reduce the language and literacy constraints of caregivers of older people. Lastly, via a scheduled bimonthly live-stream, group psychological support will be offered to caregivers and once a month an online advocacy group to educate caregivers and seniors in advocating and asserting their rights.
