Care at Home Program
The grant regards the continuation of a care at home program for persons with dementia. The program will last 12 months and will serve 40 families of dementia patients with home visits. The intervention for each family will last 6 months, with 20 families being served during each cycle. The program includes a psychologist, a nurse, a social worker, and a physical therapist-physical exercise scientist. The services performed include mental and physical strengthening, psychological support, the provision of nursing, and counseling regarding welfare/insurance matters, among others.
The program will also hold seminars for caregivers throughout the year that offer training regarding dementia and matters pertaining to caring for someone who has the disease. Besides the training that the 60 caregivers who are integrated in the program will receive, Frodizo will also offer training to 40 more caregivers in the use of new technologies so that they can participate in the online mental and physical strengthening interventions that are offered by the health professionals of the program. The health professionals of the program will also conduct neuropsychological assessments over the phone for at least 50 persons over 65+ who live in remote villages in nearby prefectures.
