The Angelos and Leto Katakouzenos Foundation, through a Points of Support grant of the TIMA Charitable Foundation, studied the positive impact and potential that museums and cultural institutions have on persons with dementia and their caregivers. The Angelos and Leto Katakouzenos Foundation conducted extensive research on this subject and developed an e-book that contains detailed information on how participation in cultural activities improves the quality of life of persons with dementia as well as their caregivers. The information provided in the e-book will help museums, and cultural institutions in general, broach the issue of dementia and, in turn, aid persons with the disease feel socially included. The guidelines provided in the publication encourage and support the conversion of museums and cultural institutions through various activities. Best practices from dementia-friendly cultural institutions around the world are also described in the e-book.
