HIGGS, through a grant of the TIMA Charitable Foundation, implemented a pilot program offering tailor-made training and consulting services to 5 Attica care homes for 8 months.
The program aided each care home in improving the quality of care offered to their elderly residents. As a result of the program, HIGGS created a manual regarding fund-raising for care homes. This is especially significant as the ageing of the population and the economic crisis have increased the needs that care homes have in supporting the most vulnerable persons of the Third Age. The manual describes all the funding sources available in Greece in 2018 and relevant procedures so that care homes can go about applying for financial support.
