Diogenes NGO is expanding the "Shedia" Program to the city of Thessaloniki.
Shedia is a monthly street paper sold by the homeless and people living below the poverty. Each seller earns a 50% profit of each copy sold. The first issue of Shedia was sold in February 2013 in Athens. During the Program’s first 6 months, the number of sellers grew from 40 to 140 and the issues sold from 5,000 to 13,000. Shedia is a member of the International Network of Street Papers. Through a grant of the TIMA Charitable Foundation, Thessaloniki is the second city added to the “Shedia” Program.
