The Association’s main goals are: the provision of information regarding Alzheimer’s Disease through awareness-raising presentations, advisory, and distribution of printed material as well as the provision of assistance to patients with dementia, especially those who are dealing with economic issues. The Association has no paid staff and it is solely operated by volunteers.

The grant regards the creation of a 12-month care at home program for patients with dementia. The program will serve 20 families of dementia patients with home visits. The intervention for each family will provide nursing and medical care for individuals suffering with dementia as well as psychological support and training for their caregiver over the year. Additional services of the program will include: information about Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia; caregiver groups so that caregivers can meet and exchange experiences and knowledge; the organization of informational lectures for the local community of Xanthi Prefecture with the goal of awareness-raising and dementia prevention.
