Nina Service dogs participate in individual or group sessions and visits to institutions are carried out in cooperation with expert social scientists. The dogs that are trained and given to people with disabilities, remain with their new owners for the rest of their lives. The organization’s vision is to improve the quality of life for disabled children, adults, elderly people and their families. The organization is a certified member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP), European Guide Dog Federation (EGDF), and 4PAWS FOR ABILITY.
Certified Service-Assistance Dog Visit Program
The grant regards a 10-month visitation program by certified service-assistance dogs to institutions for the elderly, with approximately 500 senior beneficiaries. The skills & training of the dogs will be demonstrated to participants who will also have the opportunity to interact with the dogs. Even short interactions with the dogs help the elderly, many of whom are socially isolated, with research showing improvement of their long-term physical & psychological health.
This grant is implemented through the Points of Support program III.
