The Ladies Union of Drama offers a variety of services including psychological support, food and medical supplies, as well as the distribution of clothes and other donated items. It also shelters vulnerable women and children at a self-run hostel, providing security and care for those in need. Furthermore, the Ladies Union of Drama provides financial aid to vulnerable persons for various purposes including healthcare, utility bills and rent. It acts as a facilitator for the meeting of many different needs in the Drama prefecture. The Ladies Union of Drama employs 2 full-time employees and has a very active and large network of dynamic volunteers.
“Caring for the Elderly” Program
The grant regards the continuation of the “Caring for the Elderly” program, which was funded by TIMA from 2014 through 2015, with the addition of various new elements. Food supplies and hygiene products will be provided for 12 months to 75 families with one or two elderly family members living under the same roof. The program will allow for each family to receive a new household item, such as furniture or an electric appliance, that will improve the quality of their daily lives. Moreover, through this program, free blood tests to the elderly members of the 75 families will be provided. The Caring for the Elderly program will also be supported a social worker and will additionally provide administrative assistance. The families will be able to attend informational events on various subjects of interest and presentations by experts will be held pertaining to health-related issues. Lastly, group meals and excursions will be organized on a periodic basis for elderly beneficiaries living alone, with the aim of increasing their social welfare.
