“Life Prevention” program
The grant regards the creation of a free cancer screening test program that will be directed mostly to people over 50 years of age who live in remote mountainous/agricultural areas of the Achaia Prefecture. A team of volunteer doctors (dermatologist, surgeon, urologist, gastroenterologist, pulmonologist, gynecologist, psychiatrist) will visit 6 areas in the Achaia Prefecture for a period of 3 days in each area. The team of doctors will be supported by additional volunteers such as nurses and health care professionals. The examinations will take place at the local medical clinic of the area. During each visit to a particular region, there will be an event held to inform local citizens about cancer. Approximately 1,200 persons from the Achaia Prefecture will be examined, 75% of who will be over 50 years of age.
