Liver Elastography Examination Program for Seniors

The Association’s mission is to ensure that all persons living with liver disease have access to prevention, early diagnosis, and appropriate healthcare. The Association’s activities include a program for the provision of free liver elastography examinations that has served an estimated 20,000 individuals since 2016 in about 35 towns across Greece, with an emphasis on those with limited access to health services. Besides the Association’s examination program, it also conducts awareness-raising campaigns, participates in research studies, and provides continuous legal assistance to liver disease patients.

Liver Elastography Examination Program for Seniors

The grant regards the creation of a program for the provision of free liver elastography (ultrasound) to approximately 600 seniors living in 6 towns in mainland Greece, over a period of 12 months. Liver elastography is a sophisticated ultrasound examination that in many cases can replace a painful biopsy and provide results in just a few minutes, with no side-effects. The program will also involve raising the awareness of the general public on the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of liver disease.
