Zorzis Mihalinos is the only nonprofit care home in the town of Chios and one of two on the island. The building accommodates 90 senior residents, 40% of whom are bedridden. Zorzis Mihalinos Care Home accepts both autonomous and bedridden patients. It implements its statutory mission by accepting a higher than usual percentage (10%) of elders who are unable to contribute financially.
Renovation Works
The grant regards the refurbishment of the exterior of the buildings, which house the residents. Due to financial limitations, the care home has not been able to fund the upkeep of the exterior. The renovation will address the structural issues of the building and will ensure that the building will be safe and habitable for the next 20-25 years.
